About us
In 2008, spurred by a life-long penchant for entrepreneurism, Julie Jenanyan came up with the idea for Monkey Off Your Back. As she was happily setting up the bookkeeping for a friend’s new business, she saw how she could help people better manage their finances and run their businesses more effectively.
Julie had mastered the intricacies of QuickBooks during her years in the wine business and continued to use QuickBooks to manage her own finances. Realizing that many small business owners would welcome assistance in this area, Julie founded MOYB. Now, over 40 satisfied clients later, Julie is convinced that she made the right choice.
“I truly enjoy helping other entrepreneurs improve their job satisfaction by taking the proverbial monkey of bookkeeping off their back. Whether my clients hire me to train them in QuickBooks, or to simply do their bookkeeping for them, I am gratified by the sense of relief they express once we start working together.”
Julie’s clients are similarly positive about working with MOYB. “As a sole proprietor trying to make the most of my business tax deductions, I’m so grateful I can outsource brainspace to Julie so I can concentrate on doing what I love, which has absolutely nothing to do with QuickBooks,” says one San Francisco-based client. “I used to hate to walk into my home office. Now, thanks to Julie and Monkey Off Your Back, it’s my own personal sanctuary,” says another.
Before founding Monkey Off Your Back, Julie owned and operated WineWords, which specialized in copywriting for the wine, food and travel industries. Prior to WineWords, Julie held a managerial and sales position at Liparita Cellars, a small Howell Mountain winery. She graduated from the University of San Diego in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in business administration.
An avid runner, Julie lives in St. Helena with her teenage son, Sam, and their slightly neurotic but loveable dog, Birdie.
